Connect Other Devices Through Health Connect
Aeros connects directly to Health Connect and Garmin Connect on Android — but that doesn't mean other devices are left out. Health Connect is Android's built-in health data hub: most major training watches and fitness apps can write workouts into Health Connect, and Aeros reads them from there automatically.
Set it up once and workouts recorded on your Samsung watch, Coros, Polar, or favorite training app will flow into Aeros just like a native integration.
Before you start: Health Connect requirements
- On Android 14 and newer, Health Connect is built into the operating system (Settings > Security & privacy > Privacy > Health Connect, exact path varies by manufacturer).
- On Android 9–13, install the free Health Connect by Android app from the Google Play Store.
- Health Connect requires a screen lock (PIN, pattern, or password) to be enabled on the phone.
- Google Fit note: Google Fit and its APIs are being phased out in favor of Health Connect. If you currently rely on Google Fit as a middleman, switch your device's own companion app to sync straight to Health Connect instead.
How it works
The general setup is always the same three steps:
- 1
Install your device's companion app
Install it on your Android phone (e.g. Samsung Health, the COROS app, Polar Flow) and make sure your watch is paired and syncing to it.
- 2
Turn on Health Connect syncing inside that app
Every brand puts this in a slightly different menu — exact paths are below. Android will prompt you to grant the app permission to write exercise data to Health Connect. Allow it.
- 3
Connect Health Connect to Aeros
In Aeros, go to Settings > Connected Devices (or the Connect Your Device step during onboarding), choose Health Connect, and allow all requested permissions — especially Exercise, Heart rate, and Distance.
After setup, finish a workout on your device, let it sync to its companion app, and it will appear in Aeros the next time you open the app.
Setup by brand
Find your device or app below. Menu paths change as apps update, and Health Connect support is newer and less uniform than Apple Health support — if an option is missing, update the app first.
Samsung Health (Galaxy Watch)
- Open the Samsung Health app.
- Go to Menu > Settings > Health Connect.
- Turn on syncing and choose which data to share (include Exercise).
- Grant the requested Health Connect permissions.
Fitbit
- Open the Fitbit app.
- Tap your profile picture > Fitbit settings > Health Connect.
- Enable sync with Health Connect and grant permissions.
Unlike on iPhone, Fitbit does support Health Connect natively on Android — no third-party bridge needed.
Coros
- Open the COROS app.
- Go to Profile > Settings > 3rd Party Apps.
- Select Health Connect and toggle it on.
- Grant the write permissions when Android prompts.
Polar
- Open the Polar Flow app.
- Go to Menu > General Settings.
- Toggle on Health Connect.
- Grant the requested permissions.
Suunto
- Open the Suunto app.
- Go to Profile > Connect other services (or Partner services).
- Select Health Connect and enable it.
- Grant permissions when prompted.
Whoop
- Open the WHOOP app.
- Go to More > App Settings > Integrations.
- Enable Health Connect and grant permissions.
WHOOP writes the workouts and activities it detects; recovery-style metrics may not transfer as workouts.
Oura
- Open the Oura app.
- Go to the menu > Settings > Health Connect.
- Enable sharing and grant permissions.
Oura primarily contributes sleep and heart-rate wellness data; workouts only sync if recorded in Oura.
Peloton
- Open the Peloton app.
- Go to Profile > Settings > Health Connect.
- Toggle on workout syncing and grant permissions.
Strava (recording with the Strava app)
If you record workouts with the Strava phone app, enable Settings > Applications, Services and Devices > Health Connect inside Strava so runs are written to Health Connect — Aeros will pick them up from there.
Wahoo
Wahoo's Android apps have historically had limited or no Health Connect support. Check the current Wahoo app for a Health Connect option under Profile > Linked Accounts. If it's absent, use the in-app device request form (Settings > Connected Devices > "Request your device") to let us know.
Garmin
Garmin doesn't need the Health Connect bridge — Aeros integrates with Garmin Connect directly. Connect Garmin from Aeros' Connected Devices screen instead.
Verify it's working
Record a short test workout
A few minutes on your device or app is plenty.
Check Health Connect
Open Health Connect (Android 14+: Settings > Security & privacy > Privacy > Health Connect; older Android: the Health Connect app) and go to Data and access > Exercise. The workout should appear there, attributed to the companion app.
Open Aeros
Health Connect syncs when the app opens — the workout should appear and match against your planned session.
If the workout appears in Health Connect but not in Aeros, check that Aeros has permission to read Exercise data: Health Connect > App permissions > Aeros > enable all categories.
Troubleshooting
Workout never appears in Health Connect
The problem is between your device and its companion app. Confirm the watch synced to the companion app first, then confirm the companion app's Health Connect toggle is on.
Workout is in Health Connect but not in Aeros
Re-check Aeros' read permissions (Health Connect > App permissions > Aeros), then reopen Aeros to trigger a sync.
Health Connect option missing in a companion app
Update the app, and on Android 9–13 make sure the Health Connect app is installed from the Play Store. Some brands roll out Health Connect support gradually.
Duplicate workouts
Make sure only one source is active in Aeros. Aeros keeps a single connected device at a time to prevent duplicates — if a device also pushes to Garmin Connect, pick one path, not both.
Old workouts missing
Aeros imports recent history (about 30 days) at connect time. Third-party apps often only write new workouts to Health Connect from the moment their toggle is enabled.
Don't see your device here, or want a direct integration?
We're actively adding direct device support. Open Aeros and go to Settings > Connected Devices > “Request your device” to tell us which device you'd like us to support next.
